Brilliance V5 (1st generation): Factory Wheel and Tire Sizes

The Brilliance V5 uses a single factory wheel size for all trims and engines, including the 1.6 (4A92S). Below are the tire, wheel, and fastener specifications.

Difficulty: Easy Time: 5 minutes (reference) Steps: 8 Tools: None needed

Part

  • 🔩 Factory 225/55 R17 tires and alloy or steel wheels 7J x 17 ET32 with a 5x100 bolt pattern

Step by step

8 steps
  1. Tire: 225/55 R17. Section width is 225 mm, aspect ratio is 55% of the width, and rim diameter is 17 inches.
  2. Wheel: 7J x 17, offset ET32. A small offset variation (about ±3-5 mm) is acceptable as long as the wheel does not rub against the brake caliper, suspension, or fender.
  3. Bolt pattern (PCD): 5x100, meaning 5 holes on a 100 mm circle.
  4. Center bore (DIA): 57.1 mm. If the wheel's bore is larger, you need hub-centric rings, otherwise you will get vibration at speed.
  5. Fasteners: lug nuts with M12 x 1.5 thread. The seat type (conical or spherical) can differ between alloy and steel wheels, so choose lug nuts that match your wheel type.
  6. Tire pressure: a typical guideline is 2.0-2.3 bar (about 30-34 psi). The exact value for your trim is listed on the placard on the door pillar or inside the fuel filler flap.
  7. Lug nut torque: the exact value for this model is not documented in publicly available materials. For M12 x 1.5 threads, roughly 90-110 N·m (66-81 lb-ft) is typically used; check the manufacturer's specification. Tighten with a torque wrench in a crisscross (star) pattern.
  8. Changing the wheel size: because of the large 17-inch diameter on 225/55 tires, switching to a different size is only possible if you keep the overall outer wheel diameter the same (a deviation of no more than 1.5-2%), otherwise the speedometer will read incorrectly. Before installing non-standard wheels, check the clearance to the caliper and fender with the wheels turned to full lock.

Common mistakes and warnings

  • Wheels and their fasteners affect safety. If you lack experience, have a tire shop handle mounting and the selection of non-standard wheels. After any wheel reinstallation, retighten the lug nuts after 50-100 km (30-60 miles).
