Opel Corsa D: Instrument Cluster Removal

Removing the instrument cluster on the Opel Corsa D is a simple job that does not require removing the steering column or the dashboard. You only need to remove the trim bezel and take out three TORX T20 screws. The procedure is the same for all engines of the D generation (2006-2014).

Difficulty: Easy Time: 15-20 minutes Steps: 7 Tools: TORX T20 screwdriver, plastic trim tool or flat-blade screwdriver (optional)

Step by step

7 steps
  1. Turn the ignition off and remove the key from the ignition switch.
  2. Lower the steering column to its lowest position (adjustment lever under the steering wheel) for easier access.
  3. Remove the plastic trim bezel around the instrument cluster. Carefully pry it loose with a plastic trim tool or by hand from the bottom, then pull it toward you (it is held by clips, and moderate force is enough).
  4. Remove the three TORX T20 screws that secure the instrument cluster to the dashboard housing (located around the perimeter of the cluster).
  5. Pull the instrument cluster toward you and ease it out of its seat (do not pull abruptly, because the wiring harness is connected at the back).
  6. Feel for the connector on the back of the cluster, press the locking tab and disconnect the connector.
  7. Remove the instrument cluster completely.

Common mistakes and warnings

  • Do not pull the cluster with force before the connector is disconnected, as you may damage the pins or break the locking tab. When installing, make sure the connector clicks into place. If you need to replace the backlight bulbs or repair the circuit board, they can only be accessed from the back after the cluster is removed.
