Peugeot 1007 1.4 16V ET3J4 (2005): Throttle Body Gasket Replacement
Over time, the gasket between the throttle body and the intake manifold loses its seal. This causes vacuum leaks, a rough idle, and fuel mixture errors. The replacement is simple and needs no special equipment.
Part
- 🔩 Throttle body gasket (aftermarket equivalents: Elring 258.770, Ajusa 01059800)

Step by step
10 steps- Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait 2-3 minutes.
- Remove the engine cover (if fitted), loosen the clamp on the air intake duct in front of the throttle body, and disconnect the duct.
- Unplug the electrical connector from the throttle body (press the locking tab and pull it toward you).
- Remove the three screws that secure the throttle body to the intake manifold with a Torx T30 driver.
- Carefully lift the throttle body off the manifold, taking care not to damage the mating surfaces.
- Remove the old gasket. Clean the mating surfaces on the manifold and the throttle body housing of any gasket residue and carbon deposits. If needed, use throttle body cleaner and a rag.
- Place the new gasket onto the intake manifold studs (if the manifold has studs), or simply lay it on the mating surface.
- Reinstall the throttle body, thread in the three screws, and tighten them in a crisscross pattern to 8-10 N·m (6-7 lb-ft). If you don't have a torque wrench, tighten carefully without excessive force so you don't distort the throttle body housing.
- Reconnect the electrical connector, refit the air intake duct, and tighten the clamp.
- Reconnect the battery terminal and turn the ignition on for 30 seconds (without starting the engine) so the throttle body can adapt. Then start the engine and check for vacuum leaks at idle.
Common mistakes and warnings
- Do not overtighten the throttle body screws. The aluminum alloy housing can distort, or the threads can strip. When installing, make sure the gasket sits flat and is not skewed, or the vacuum leak will remain.
