Step by step

11 steps
  1. Remove the front door trim panel: pop off the clips and remove the fasteners for the door handle and armrest.
  2. Disconnect the window regulator connector and the speaker connector, if equipped.
  3. Pry up the inner window seal (inner beltline weatherstrip) from inside the door and slowly pull it upward, removing it completely.
  4. Remove the outer window seal (outer beltline weatherstrip): pry it up from the inside and pull it out.
  5. Raise or lower the glass so that the two bolts securing the glass bracket to the window regulator slider are visible through the opening in the door.
  6. Remove the two bolts with a 10 mm wrench.
  7. Lift the rear part of the glass slightly and carefully take it out of the door through the top opening.
  8. Install the new glass in the reverse order: insert the front edge into the front glass run channel, then lower the rear part into the rear glass run channel.
  9. Align the holes in the glass bracket with the holes on the window regulator slider and install the bolts.
  10. Check the glass travel by hand. It should move smoothly without binding.
  11. Install the outer and inner window seals, then reinstall the door trim panel.

Common mistakes and warnings

  • During installation, make sure the glass has seated correctly in both glass run channels. Otherwise it will jam or crack when you raise it. Do not overtighten the bolts, because the bracket may deform.
