Step by step

9 steps
  1. Open the hood and locate the sound insulation cover (a felt or plastic panel) on the left side under the windshield.
  2. Remove the 3 fasteners (screws or clips) and move the cover aside.
  3. Under the cover you will see the cabin air filter housing cover with a distinctive handle.
  4. Pull the cover toward you and remove it.
  5. Carefully lift the old filter straight up and out (be ready for debris and leaves to spill out).
  6. Wipe the filter seat clean of dust and leaves with a dry rag.
  7. Install the new filter, observing the airflow direction (the arrow on the filter frame must point down or in the direction of airflow into the cabin). The filter has no rigid frame, so you can squeeze it slightly during installation.
  8. Snap the cover back into place.
  9. Reinstall the sound insulation cover and tighten the fasteners.

Common mistakes and warnings

  • Do not install the filter backward during installation. The arrow indicates the direction of airflow. Incorrect installation reduces filtration efficiency and can cause blower noise.
