Honda Vezel (1st generation): Cabin Air Filter Replacement

The cabin air filter on the Honda Vezel (HR-V in some markets) should be replaced every 12,000-15,000 km (7,500-9,300 miles) or once a year. It is located behind the glove box, and the job requires no tools.

Difficulty: Easy Time: 5-10 minutes Steps: 8 Tools: None required

Part

  • 🔩 Honda 80291-T5A-J01 (carbon type, fits 1st-generation Vezel). Aftermarket equivalents: Double Force DFC21003, as well as 80291-TF0-941, 80292-TF0-G01

Step by step

8 steps
  1. Open the glove box and empty it.
  2. Squeeze the two side latches on the edges of the glove box and swing it fully downward.
  3. Push the glove box damper down. This lets you lower the box below its normal position to reach the filter housing.
  4. Behind the glove box, find the rectangular plastic cover. Unclip the two side clips and remove it.
  5. Pull out the old filter, noting the direction of the airflow arrows.
  6. Wipe out the housing with a dry cloth, or vacuum it if it is heavily soiled.
  7. Install the new filter with the arrows pointing the correct way. They must match the marking on the housing.
  8. Snap the cover back into place and return the glove box to its original position.

Common mistakes and warnings

  • Be careful but firm when handling the damper, since sudden movements can damage its mount. In dusty areas, replace the filter more often than the recommended interval.
