Honda Vezel LEB (2019): Fuel Pressure Regulator Replacement in the Fuel Rail

On the Honda Vezel (HR-V) with the LEB engine, the fuel pressure regulator is located inside the fuel pump module in the fuel tank. Replacing it requires removing the fuel pump module through the access panel under the rear seat. The procedure is standard for modern Hondas, and the regulator is replaced as an assembly with its O-rings.

Difficulty: Medium Time: 1.5-2 hours Steps: 16 Tools: Special fuel pump module wrench (Honda 07AAA-T0AA100 or 070AA-T0AA100), socket set, screwdrivers, shop rags, gloves, fuel container

Part

  • 🔩 Honda 17052-T5F-010 (fuel pressure regulator assembly with seals)

Step by step

16 steps
  1. Open the fuel filler cap to relieve pressure in the system. Disconnect the battery.
  2. Remove the rear seat cushions and fold down the seatbacks to access the carpet on the cargo area floor.
  3. Under the carpet, find the plastic fuel pump module service cover (rectangular, in the center).
  4. Unscrew the cover and disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump module.
  5. Cover the fuel quick-connect fittings with a rag and disconnect them (by pressing the locking tabs). Collect any fuel that drains out in a container.
  6. Using the special fuel pump module wrench, unscrew the lock ring counterclockwise.
  7. Carefully lift the fuel pump module upward, disconnect the overflow (return) tube, and remove the module from the tank.
  8. Disassemble the fuel pump module on a workbench: remove the reservoir cover, remove the clip and the ground wire, and remove the bracket.
  9. Remove the clip that holds the pressure regulator, and pull the old regulator out of the module housing.
  10. Install the new regulator with the new O-rings (lubricate the O-rings with clean engine oil, not any other fluids).
  11. Reassemble the fuel pump module in reverse order: bracket (new one from the kit), clips, reservoir.
  12. Install the module in the tank (align the marks on the module and the tank) and connect the overflow tube.
  13. Tighten the lock ring with the special wrench (check that the marks on the ring and the threads line up before and after tightening).
  14. Connect the fuel lines and the electrical connector, and install the service cover.
  15. Reconnect the battery and turn the ignition on for 2-3 seconds (without starting the engine) to build pressure in the system.
  16. Check for leaks around the fuel pump module, start the engine, and make sure it idles smoothly.

Common mistakes and warnings

  • Working on the fuel system is a fire hazard. Work in a well-ventilated area, away from open flames and sparks. Wear gloves and safety glasses. Dispose of drained fuel in accordance with local regulations. Do not reuse the old O-rings; use only those supplied with the new regulator. The system's operating fuel pressure is 390-440 kPa (56.6-63.8 psi). After replacement, verify it with a diagnostic scan tool or a pressure gauge.
