Honda Vezel 1.5 Hybrid (2019): Engine Air Filter Replacement
The air filter on the hybrid Honda Vezel (HR-V in many markets) should be replaced every 15,000-30,000 km (9,000-18,000 miles), depending on driving conditions. The procedure is simple and takes 10-15 minutes without any tools.
Part
- 🔩 Honda 17220-5R0-008 (aftermarket equivalents: Mann C 27 003, Filtron AP 062/4, VIC A-1038)
Step by step
8 steps- Open the hood using the release lever under the dashboard to the left of the driver, then push the hood latch to the right at the center of the radiator grille and secure the hood with the prop rod.
- Locate the black plastic air filter housing on the left side of the engine bay (as viewed from the front of the car).
- Unclip the 3 spring clips around the perimeter of the air intake housing cover: press on each clip and pull it upward.
- Lift the housing cover and remove the old filter. Wipe the inside of the housing with a clean, dry rag, and do not let any dirt fall into the intake tract.
- Install the new filter the correct way around. The pleats of the filter element should run vertically, and use the guide slots in the housing to confirm the proper orientation.
- Make sure the edges of the filter are not folded over and the element is seated snugly in the housing all the way around.
- Put the housing cover back on and snap all three clips shut until you hear a distinct click.
- Close the hood and press down on it from above until you hear the latch lock into place.
Common mistakes and warnings
- Hybrid versions of the Vezel use a special treated filter for improved filtration. When buying an aftermarket replacement, make sure it is compatible with hybrid models. Do not reuse a filter after washing it, as this shortens engine life. Inspect the filter every 10,000 km (6,000 miles); if you drive in dusty conditions, replace it more often.
