SsangYong Kyron 2.0 XDi (2010): Air Filter Replacement
The air filter on the 2.0 XDi diesel (D20DT engine) should be replaced every 15,000-20,000 km (9,000-12,000 mi) or once a year. The housing is located on the right side of the engine with easy access. The procedure is very simple and takes 10 minutes.
Part
- 🔩 Air filter (OE 2311109001 or equivalents Mann C 30 163, Filtron AP 062/4, Mahle LX 2616)

Step by step
9 steps- Open the hood and locate the black plastic air filter housing on the right side of the engine (passenger side).
- Inspect the housing cover. It is secured either by 4 spring clips or by 4-6 Phillips screws (depending on the model year).
- If it has clips, release them one after another around the perimeter by pulling them up. If it has screws, remove all the cover screws.
- Lift the cover up (on some versions it stays attached by a hinge at the back, so don't pull too hard).
- Remove the old filter element from the housing.
- Wipe the inside of the housing with a clean, dry rag and remove dust and debris (especially from the bottom of the housing, where dirt collects).
- Install the new filter in the housing. Make sure it sits evenly around the perimeter without any skewing and that the filter's rubber seal fits tightly against the walls.
- Close the cover and snap the clips shut, or tighten the screws in a crisscross pattern (do not overtighten the plastic).
- Check that the cover sits with no gaps. Unfiltered air leaking in will destroy the turbocharger.
Common mistakes and warnings
- Do not use cheap no-name filters with a cardboard sealing edge instead of a rubber one. They let dust bypass the filter element. On turbocharged diesels (the 2.0 XDi with a VGT turbo), this leads to damage to the turbine wheel and wear of the pistons and cylinders. Use an OE filter or proven aftermarket brands such as Mann, Mahle or Filtron.
