Haval F7 2.0 Turbo (2026): Engine Air Filter Replacement

On the Haval F7 with the 2.0 turbo engine (GW4C20B), the air filter is replaced every 15,000-20,000 km (9,000-12,500 mi) per the maintenance schedule (first replacement at 30,000 km (18,500 mi)). For turbocharged engines, however, replacing it every 7,000-8,000 km (4,500-5,000 mi) together with the oil change is recommended. The procedure is simple and takes just a few minutes to do yourself.

Difficulty: Easy Time: 3-5 minutes Steps: 6 Tools: TORX T20 screwdriver or Phillips screwdriver (depending on housing version)

Part

  • 🔩 Engine air filter (OE Great Wall 1109110XKZ1DA, aftermarket equivalents MAHLE LX4557, Goodwill AG778)

Step by step

6 steps
  1. Open the hood and locate the black plastic air filter housing on the right side of the engine.
  2. Remove the 5 self-tapping screws around the perimeter of the housing's top cover (the fastener type is TORX or Phillips head, depending on model year).
  3. Lift the cover upward without disconnecting the hoses.
  4. Remove the old filter element and wipe the inside of the housing with a dry rag to remove dust and debris.
  5. Install the new filter (pay attention to the pleat direction: the accordion-style pleats should be oriented vertically).
  6. Put the cover back in place and tighten the 5 screws in a crisscross pattern for even seating.

Common mistakes and warnings

  • On a turbocharged engine, a clean air filter is critical to the service life of the turbocharger and the pistons, rings and cylinders. Do not drive the vehicle with a clogged or damaged filter. This leads to abrasive wear on the turbine blades and scoring on the cylinder walls. When buying aftermarket filters, check that the dimensions match the original and that the sealing rim runs around the entire perimeter.
