Ravon Nexia R3 1.5 B15D2 (2020): Accessory Drive Belt (Alternator Belt) Replacement

On the Ravon Nexia R3, the alternator drive belt should be replaced every 90,000 km or every 6 years. The procedure is simple and is done from above, without a lift. For better access, it is recommended to remove the air filter housing and the front headlight on the belt side.

Difficulty: Easy Time: 30-40 minutes Steps: 9 Tools: 14 mm wrench, breaker bar or ratchet, pry bar or large screwdriver

Part

  • 🔩 Alternator belt 25183130 6PK1814 (GM OE). Power steering belt 4PK643 (GATES)

Step by step

9 steps
  1. Open the hood. For better access, remove the air filter housing and unbolt the front headlight (3 mounting bolts on top, 1 on the bottom).
  2. Locate the automatic belt tensioner, a pulley with a lever on the right side of the engine.
  3. Insert a 14 mm wrench or a breaker bar into the square hole on the tensioner lever.
  4. Turn the lever clockwise to relieve the belt tension, and slip the belt off one of the pulleys (it is easiest to do this at the alternator pulley).
  5. Remove the old belt, noting its routing around the pulleys (alternator, crankshaft, tensioner pulley, idler pulley or A/C compressor).
  6. Install the new belt using the same routing, leaving one pulley free.
  7. Turn the tensioner with the wrench again, slip the belt onto the last pulley, and release the tensioner slowly.
  8. Check that the belt is seated correctly on all pulleys, then turn the crankshaft by hand 2 full revolutions.
  9. Start the engine and make sure there are no unusual noises (whistling, squealing).

Common mistakes and warnings

  • When replacing the belt, inspect the tensioner and idler pulleys for play and noise. A typical problem is tensioner bearing wear after 40,000-50,000 km, which makes a rumbling noise. If the pulleys are worn, replace them at the same time as the belt. OE pulley: 25183296; aftermarket alternative: INA 532073610. Check the tightness of the tensioner mounting bolt, as it can work loose. Excess grease on the pulleys will be forced out onto the belt and cause slipping.
