Step by step
9 steps- Slide the front passenger seat all the way back for easier access.
- Remove the screws holding the lower side sill trim (passenger side) using a Torx T20 driver. Remove the trim.
- Remove the fasteners of the cabin air filter housing cover using a 5.5 mm socket (usually 2 screws).
- Remove the cover by pulling it toward you.
- Pull the old filter out of the housing. Wipe the housing with a dry cloth to remove dust and leaves.
- Install the new filter, observing the airflow direction (the arrows on the filter frame must point toward the cabin).
- Put the cover back in place and tighten the screws with the 5.5 mm socket.
- Reinstall the sill trim and tighten the Torx T20 screws.
- Return the front passenger seat to its original position.
Common mistakes and warnings
- Do not try to clean and reuse the old filter. This results in poor air filtration and fogged windows. Do not use excessive force when installing the cover, as you can damage the plastic clips.
