Dacia Spring (1st generation): Replacing the Low Beam Bulbs

The Dacia Spring headlights use dual-filament H4 bulbs rated 60/55 W. The bulb is replaced from under the hood without removing the headlight or bumper. The bulb is replaced together with its plastic base.

Difficulty: Easy Time: 15 minutes Steps: 12 Tools: None required

Part

  • 🔩 H4 12V 60/55W bulb (dual-filament, low and high beam). Philips 78028760, Osram 64193, or equivalents are suitable

Step by step

12 steps
  1. Open the hood and secure it with the prop rod. Turn the ignition off and remove the key.
  2. Locate the headlight from the back (behind the engine bay, on the left or right depending on the side).
  3. Remove the protective rubber or plastic cover from the back of the headlight (it is held by threads or clips: turn it counterclockwise or pull it off).
  4. Disconnect the power connector from the bulb by pulling the connector housing toward you (do not pull on the wires).
  5. Press the metal spring retaining clip and swing it aside (down or sideways) to release the bulb.
  6. Remove the old H4 bulb from the reflector. Do not touch the glass of the new bulb with your fingers. Hold it by the base or use a clean cloth.
  7. Insert the new H4 bulb into the reflector, aligning it with the slots (the bulb fits in only one position).
  8. Secure the bulb with the spring clip by returning the clip to its place until it clicks.
  9. Plug the power connector onto the bulb until it is fully seated.
  10. Reinstall the protective cover (turn it clockwise or snap it into place).
  11. Repeat the procedure for the other headlight (if needed).
  12. Check that the lights work: turn the ignition on and switch on the low beams. If necessary, adjust the beam direction with the adjusting screws on the headlight housing.

Common mistakes and warnings

  • Do not touch the glass envelope of a halogen bulb with your fingers. Oily residue causes localized overheating and premature bulb failure. If you do touch it, wipe the glass with rubbing alcohol. When installing LED bulbs, make sure their heat sink does not interfere with the cover and does not touch the wiring.
