Geely Atlas Pro 1.5 Turbo (2026): Spark Plug Replacement

The JLH-3G15TD engine requires spark plug replacement every 30,000 km. The procedure is simple: remove the decorative cover, then carefully remove the old plugs. It is important to follow the specified tightening torque so you don't damage the aluminum threads in the cylinder head.

Difficulty: Easy Time: 30-40 minutes Steps: 11 Tools: 16 mm spark plug socket, extension, torque wrench, clean rag

Part

  • 🔩 Genuine Geely 2036512100 (NGK ILKFR8BG, Denso IT20TT). Aftermarket equivalents: NGK 97226, Denso IT20TT

Step by step

11 steps
  1. Shut off the engine and let it cool for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Open the hood and remove the decorative plastic engine cover. Gently pull up the front part first, then the rear, and set it aside.
  3. Disconnect the ignition coil connectors: press the locking tab and pull upward.
  4. Remove the mounting bolts of each ignition coil, then pull the coils straight out vertically without rocking them.
  5. Blow out the spark plug wells with compressed air or wipe them with a clean rag. Dirt must not get into the cylinder.
  6. Using a 16 mm spark plug socket with an extension, unscrew the old plugs counterclockwise.
  7. Use a flashlight to check the condition of the threads in the cylinder head. There should be no dirt, oil or damage.
  8. Thread the new plugs in by hand until they stop (thread M12×1.25) to avoid cross-threading.
  9. Tighten the plugs with a torque wrench to 20-25 N·m (15-18 lb-ft). The aluminum cylinder head is sensitive to overtightening.
  10. Install the ignition coils in reverse order and connect the connectors until they click.
  11. Put the decorative cover back in place, start the engine and check that it runs smoothly.

Common mistakes and warnings

  • Do not exceed the tightening torque. The aluminum threads in the cylinder head are easily damaged by force above 30 N·m (22 lb-ft). Use only iridium or platinum spark plugs with the correct heat range. Cheap copper-nickel plugs will cause misfires and a loss of power in the turbocharged engine.
