Meet the Jaguar I-Pace
Autopapyrus

This is the new Jaguar I-Pace, an electric vehicle with bold proportions. Its coupe-like profile pairs well with unusually large wheels, giving the car an exotic look overall. That is how the concept of the new electric car looks, and its shape will not change when it leaves the assembly line. We will soon see whether potential buyers are ready to accept such a daring design for an electric vehicle.
What the Jaguar I-Pace looks like outside
Building an electric vehicle is less restricted in terms of design, so the engineers were able to create a sportier take on the SUV: they lengthened the wheelbase, shortened the overhangs, and moved the cabin forward. Despite an interior that rivals those of serious SUVs in size, the Jaguar I-Pace is described as a compact vehicle.
The tread of the exclusively designed wheels (23 inches) will leave a distinctive imprint on soft ground. The new Jaguar's aerodynamics deserve a mention: a low drag coefficient (0.29), unusually shaped side skirts, and door handles that retract flush into the body all contribute.
LED headlights will light the road at dusk, and a pair of slim LED strip taillights at the rear look especially elegant. They use Jaguar's special Double-J technology. There is also a dedicated brake light that is visible only while braking, and it is LED as well.
The large trunk holds up to 530 liters (18.7 cu ft) and is supplemented by a storage compartment under the hood. It is small but handy (36 liters / 1.3 cu ft).
And what is inside the Jaguar I-Pace?
The familiar high-quality materials used in the five-seat cabin work beautifully with the innovative features. The interior is not dark at all, because the large panoramic glass roof lets in plenty of light. At dusk and at night, built-in LED lighting turns on in the roof. You simply have to see it; the visual effect is truly unforgettable!
Stylish leather seats look good in the bright interior, and they are mounted slightly lower than usual. The dashboard looks clean and elegant. The main element is a 12-inch touchscreen that serves as the instrument cluster, and the screen in the center is the same size. There is also a climate control display, more than twice as small at 5.5 inches diagonally.
The I-Pace cabin is very pleasant for passengers, and the wood trim and matte upholstery create an especially cozy atmosphere.
If desired, you can activate a head-up display that projects data onto the windshield. To turn it on, just press the button at the bottom of the steering wheel.

The electric motor of the new model is built to an updated design. Jaguar engineers designed the floor of the revised platform to hold a 900 kW battery pack made up of thirty-six modules. The battery is lithium-ion. The battery case is tied into the body pillars, and each axle gets its own electric motor producing 200 horsepower (about 150 kW). Liquid-air thermal management of the powertrain uses air supplied by the air conditioning system.
