Audi Q7 3.0 TDI CRTC (2015): Engine Oil and Oil Filter Change
On the 3.0 TDI (CRTC), the oil change interval is every 15,000 km or 12 months. The engine requires oil that meets the VW 507.00 specification exclusively. Other specifications are not permitted. The filter is located on top of the engine and can be reached without removing the underbody shield.
Part
- 🔩 Oil filter: genuine Audi 057 115 561 M or 059 198 405 (aftermarket equivalents Mann HU 7008 z, Wix 57204-EA). Drain plug seal N 907 697 02 (included with the filter or purchased separately). Engine oil VW 507.00 (5W-30 synthetic): 7.7 L (8.1 qt)

Step by step
18 steps- Warm the engine up to operating temperature (5-10 km of driving), shut it off, and let it cool for 10-15 minutes.
- Raise the front of the vehicle on a lift or set it on ramps, and apply the parking brake.
- Remove the plastic engine undercover (if installed). It is secured with plastic clips and 4-6 Torx T25 bolts.
- Position the drain pan under the drain plug (located at the rear of the oil pan, 6 mm internal hex).
- Loosen the drain plug with a 6 mm hex bit and unscrew the last few turns by hand, because the oil will come out under pressure. Let the oil drain completely (5-7 minutes).
- Replace the aluminum sealing ring on the drain plug and tighten the plug to 30 N·m (22 lb-ft).
- Open the hood and locate the oil filter housing at the front right of the engine (black plastic cap, 86 mm in diameter).
- Use a 32 mm socket to unscrew the filter housing cap counterclockwise (the loosening torque is low).
- Remove the cap together with the old filter. Pull the filter straight out of the cap (some force may be needed).
- Remove the old O-ring from the groove on the housing cap. Make sure you remove the ring from the correct groove, otherwise it will leak.
- Install the new filter onto the housing cap. Press it on until it clicks (the filter is held on the cap by latches).
- Lubricate the new O-ring (supplied with the filter) with clean oil and fit it into the groove on the cap.
- Screw the cap with the new filter back into the housing and tighten it to 25 N·m (18 lb-ft).
- Pour 7.5 L (7.9 qt) of VW 507.00 oil through the oil filler neck, then wait 2-3 minutes.
- Check the level with the dipstick. The mark should be between MIN and MAX (top up to the upper mark; total capacity is 7.7 L (8.1 qt)).
- Start the engine, let it idle for 30 seconds, then shut it off.
- Wait 5 minutes and check the oil level again, topping up to the upper mark if necessary.
- Inspect the drain plug and filter housing for leaks, then reinstall the engine undercover.
Common mistakes and warnings
- Using oil that does not meet VW 507.00 will damage the diesel particulate filter (DPF) and the catalytic converter. Do not mix oils of different specifications. Do not exceed the change interval, because TDI diesel engines are sensitive to oil quality. Dispose of used oil at an authorized collection facility.
