Haval Dargo 2.0 Turbo GW4C20B (2024): Engine Oil and Oil Filter Change

The factory maintenance interval for the GW4C20B engine oil change is 15,000 km or 1 year. The first change is recommended at 10,000 km. Under severe operating conditions (city traffic, frequent cold starts, towing), shorten the interval to 7,500 km.

Difficulty: Easy Time: 30-40 minutes Steps: 12 Tools: 16 mm wrench (drain plug), 22 mm wrench or oil filter wrench, drain pan (6-7 L (6.3-7.4 qt) capacity), funnel, clean rags

Part

  • 🔩 Oil filter 1017110XEN01, drain plug gasket 1009305XEC06 (optional, if worn). Full synthetic oil 0W-20 API SP ACEA C5, 5 L (5.3 qt)

Step by step

12 steps
  1. Warm up the engine for 3-5 minutes to operating temperature, shut it off, and wait 2-3 minutes for the oil to drain back into the oil pan.
  2. Raise the front of the vehicle on a lift or drive it onto ramps, and make sure you have access to the engine skid plate.
  3. Remove the engine skid plate (if installed), loosen the drain plug with a 16 mm wrench, and position the drain pan to catch the used oil.
  4. Wait for the oil to drain completely (5-7 minutes). Inspect the drain plug gasket and, if it is deformed, replace it with a new 1009305XEC06.
  5. Tighten the drain plug to 25 N·m (18 lb-ft).
  6. Unscrew the oil filter counterclockwise with a 22 mm wrench or an oil filter wrench, then wipe the mounting surface on the engine block.
  7. Lubricate the rubber sealing ring of the new filter with clean oil, install the filter by hand until it seats, then tighten it an additional ¾ turn (do not overtighten).
  8. Install the engine skid plate and lower the vehicle.
  9. Pour 4.5 L (4.8 qt) of 0W-20 API SP ACEA C5 oil through the oil filler neck.
  10. Start the engine for 20-30 seconds (the oil pressure light should go out within 2-3 seconds), shut it off, and wait 3-5 minutes.
  11. Check the oil level with the dipstick. The level should be between the MIN and MAX marks. Top up to the upper mark if needed (total capacity is about 5 L (5.3 qt)).
  12. Reset the service interval counter through the instrument cluster menu (Settings → Vehicle → Maintenance → Reset).

Common mistakes and warnings

  • Use only oil that meets API SP and ACEA C5 specifications. The GW4C20B engine is turbocharged and demanding on oil quality. Using oils with outdated specifications (API SN, SM) leads to accelerated turbocharger wear and clogging of the lubrication system. At the first oil change after break-in (2,000-3,500 km), you may see fine metallic particles on the magnetic drain plug. This is normal for a new engine.
