MG HS 1.5 Turbo 15E4E (2026): Engine Oil and Oil Filter Change
The 1.5 Turbo (15E4E) is a direct-injection turbocharged gasoline engine. It is sensitive to oil quality: poor oil causes carbon deposits and a risk of LSPI (low-speed pre-ignition). Fill with oil that meets the approval listed in the owner's manual. The usual change interval is 10,000-15,000 km or once a year. For city driving, traffic jams and short trips, change it more often, around every 7,000-10,000 km.
Part
- 🔩 Oil filter for the SAIC 1.5T engine family (genuine MG/SAIC filter; part numbers 11326563 and 11330214 are found on the market, but they belong to different versions, so match against the look and size of your old filter). Fully synthetic engine oil, viscosity 5W-30 or 0W-30 per the manufacturer's approval, grade API SP or ACEA C2/C3 or higher, about 4 L (4.2 qt). New drain plug washer

Step by step
13 steps- Warm up the engine for 3-5 minutes so the oil thins out and drains better, then shut it off. Do not drain the oil from a fully hot engine: the oil and parts can burn you.
- Park the car on level ground. Raise it on a lift or place it on jack stands. Use the jack only for lifting. Work under the car only when it is supported by jack stands.
- If there is an engine undershield, remove it.
- Open the oil filler cap on the engine. This lets the oil drain faster.
- Place the drain pan under the drain plug on the oil pan. Unscrew the plug and drain the oil. Draining takes about 10-15 minutes, until the stream stops and turns into a slow drip.
- Clean the plug and its seat. Replace the sealing washer with a new one. Install the plug and tighten it with a torque wrench. The torque depends on the plug thread, so check it in the manufacturer's service data. Do not overtighten: the thread in an aluminum oil pan strips easily.
- Place the pan under the oil filter and remove the filter with a filter wrench. The filter may be a metal canister or a cartridge element in a plastic housing. For the cartridge type, unscrew the housing cap, replace the filter element and the O-rings. If your car has a canister, check right away whether the old gasket has stayed on the engine.
- Wipe the mounting surface. Coat the rubber seal of the new filter with a thin layer of fresh oil. Spin the filter on by hand until it makes contact, then tighten it about another 3/4 turn. For a housing with a cap and replaceable element, take the torque from the service data.
- Pour in about 3.5 L (3.7 qt) of fresh oil through the funnel. Wait a few minutes. Check the level on the dipstick. Add oil a little at a time up to the MAX mark. The full refill capacity with filter is roughly 4 L (4.2 qt), but go by the dipstick.
- Close the filler cap. Start the engine and let it run for 30-60 seconds. The oil pressure light should go out within a few seconds after startup. Do not rev the engine until the light goes out.
- Shut off the engine and wait 5 minutes. Inspect the plug and filter: there must be no leaks. Check the dipstick level again and top up if needed.
- Reinstall the undershield if you removed it. Reset the service interval indicator through the instrument cluster menu or following the owner's manual. If your trim has no such option, write down the mileage of the oil change.
- Take the used oil to a collection point. Do not pour it down a drain or onto the ground.
Common mistakes and warnings
- Do not use oil of unknown origin or oil without the approval the manufacturer requires: on a direct-injection turbo engine this leads faster to turbo wear and carbon deposits. If the car is under dealer warranty, keep the receipt and the details of the oil and filter to prove the service schedule was followed. Check the exact torque values and the oil approval for your trim against the owner's manual. I have given ranges here because the exact values for this model are not confirmed in open sources.
