MoAZ MoAZ-75054 Cummins KTA19 (2024): Engine Air Filter Replacement
The Cummins KTA19 engine in the MoAZ-75054 uses a two-stage air cleaning system: a primary filter and an inner safety element. The primary filter replacement interval is 500-1000 engine hours, depending on operating conditions (dust levels at the quarry or on the roads).
Parts
2- 🔩 Fleetguard AF872 air filter (3018042, alternate numbers 3017002, AF872M) - primary element
- 🔩 a two-stage system may also require an inner safety element
Step by step
8 steps- Stop the engine, open the hood or get access to the engine compartment on the air intake side (the air filter housing is usually located on the right or left of the engine, on the frame or a bracket next to the turbocharger).
- Inspect the filter housing and locate the clamps or bolts that hold the cover. Loosen the clamp on the air duct leading to the turbocharger.
- Remove the bolts or release the latches that secure the air filter housing cover. Remove the cover.
- Remove the primary filter element. Check the condition of the inner safety filter (if installed). It is replaced less often, usually every 2-3 primary element changes, or when damaged.
- Wipe the inside of the housing with a dry, clean rag. Remove the dust, but do not let any moisture get in.
- Install the new filter element and make sure the filter's sealing gasket sits tightly against its seat.
- Install the housing cover and tighten the bolts in a crisscross pattern to 8-12 N·m (6-9 lb-ft) (if the cover is bolted), or snap the latches shut. Tighten the air duct clamp.
- Start the engine and check for air leaks on the intake side (no whistling, and the engine runs smoothly).
Common mistakes and warnings
- Do not use compressed air to blow out an old paper filter. It breaks down the fibers and reduces filtering capacity. Always replace the filter with a new one. When working in quarries with heavy dust, shorten the replacement interval to 300-500 engine hours and monitor the restriction indicator (if one is installed on the dash or on the filter housing). A damaged or overdue filter leads to accelerated wear of the turbocharger and the cylinder and piston group.
