OMODA C5 1.5T/1.6 (2024): Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement

Engine oil on the OMODA C5 should be changed every 10,000 km or once a year. The manufacturer recommends SAE 5W-30 or 5W-40 synthetic oil. The procedure is standard: drain the oil from the oil pan, replace the filter and the drain plug washer, then refill with fresh oil to the correct level.

Difficulty: Easy Time: 40-60 minutes Steps: 10 Tools: 17 mm wrench (for the drain plug), oil filter wrench, funnel, drain pan 5-6 L (5.3-6.3 qt), rags

Part

  • 🔩 Oil filter 480-1012010 (for 1.5T) or F4J161012030 (for 1.6), drain plug washer 481H1002041. Engine oil 5W-30 or 5W-40 — the 1.5T needs 4.7 L (5.0 qt), the 1.6 needs 5.0 L (5.3 qt)

Step by step

10 steps
  1. Warm the engine up to operating temperature, then shut it off and let it sit for 5 minutes so the oil drains down into the oil pan.
  2. Raise the vehicle on a lift or position it over an inspection pit. Remove the engine undercover (skid plate) — 9 screws around the perimeter.
  3. Place the drain pan under the oil pan drain plug. Loosen the plug with a 17 mm wrench and let the oil drain completely (5-7 minutes).
  4. Replace the copper washer on the drain plug with a new one (481H1002041) and reinstall the plug. Tightening torque: 25-30 N·m (18-22 lb-ft).
  5. Unscrew the old oil filter counterclockwise using a filter wrench or by hand. Wipe the mounting surface on the engine block.
  6. Lubricate the new filter's rubber gasket with fresh oil and fill the filter one-third full of oil. Screw the filter on by hand until the gasket makes contact, then tighten it an additional 3/4 turn.
  7. Reinstall the engine undercover. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Pour in 4.3 L (4.5 qt) of oil (for the 1.5T) or 4.7 L (5.0 qt) (for the 1.6) through the oil filler neck. Close the cap.
  9. Start the engine and let it idle for 2-3 minutes. Shut it off, wait 5 minutes, and check the level with the dipstick — it should be between the MIN and MAX marks. Top up with 200-400 mL (7-14 fl oz) if necessary.
  10. Reset the service interval counter in the instrument cluster settings (Settings — Vehicle — Service reminder — Reset).

Common mistakes and warnings

  • Do not exceed the 10,000 km or 1-year replacement interval. Using oil with a viscosity other than 5W-30/5W-40 may lead to increased fuel consumption and accelerated wear. Always replace the copper drain plug washer at every oil change — otherwise a leak may occur.
