Xcite X-Cross 7 1.6 Turbo Gasoline (186 hp) (2025): Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement

Changing the oil and oil filter on the Xcite X-Cross 7 with the 1.6 turbo engine is done every 10,000 km or once a year. The procedure is standard and requires basic skills and minimal tools. The oil fill capacity is 5 L (5.3 qt), including the filter change.

Difficulty: Easy Time: 30-40 minutes Steps: 16 Tools: oil filter wrench, 17 mm wrench (or socket), funnel, oil drain pan (5-6 L / 5.3-6.3 qt), gloves

Part

  • 🔩 Oil filter 4801012010, drain plug gasket 481H1002041. Synthetic engine oil 5W-30 API SP/SN+ (5 L / 5.3 qt)

Step by step

16 steps
  1. Warm the engine up to operating temperature (5-10 minutes of running), then shut it off and let it sit for 3-5 minutes so the oil drains down into the oil pan.
  2. Raise the front of the vehicle on a lift or set it on secure jack stands, and secure it with the parking brake.
  3. Remove the engine undercover (skid plate), if equipped. It is usually held by 6-8 bolts around the perimeter.
  4. Place the drain pan under the oil pan drain plug (in the lower central part of the engine).
  5. Using a 17 mm wrench, carefully loosen and remove the drain plug and let the oil drain completely (5-7 minutes).
  6. Replace the copper drain plug gasket with a new one (481H1002041) and tighten the plug to 25-35 N·m (18-26 lb-ft). Do not overtighten.
  7. Move the drain pan under the oil filter (located on the right or left side of the cylinder block, accessible from below or from above in the engine bay).
  8. Use the filter wrench to unscrew the old filter counterclockwise, and let the remaining oil drain out.
  9. Lubricate the rubber sealing ring of the new filter with clean engine oil.
  10. Screw on the new filter (4801012010) by hand until the seal contacts the block, then tighten an additional 3/4 turn. Do not use the filter wrench for tightening.
  11. Reinstall the engine undercover.
  12. Open the oil filler cap under the hood and pour in 4.5 L (4.8 qt) of fresh 5W-30 API SP/SN+ oil through a funnel.
  13. Start the engine and let it idle for 30-60 seconds (the oil pressure light should go out within 2-5 seconds).
  14. Shut off the engine, wait 5 minutes, and check the oil level with the dipstick. It should be between the MIN and MAX marks (closer to MAX).
  15. If necessary, add oil in portions of 100-200 mL (3.4-6.8 fl oz), checking the level again each time.
  16. Check for leaks at the drain plug and the filter, and tighten the connections if necessary.

Common mistakes and warnings

  • A turbocharged engine is very sensitive to oil quality and timely oil changes. Using oil that does not meet the specification (below API SN) or exceeding the change interval shortens turbocharger life and can lead to expensive repairs. Wear gloves when working with hot oil, as its temperature can reach 90-100°C.
