Votour: What We Know About the New AGR and Defetoo Brand

On October 27, the Russian holding AGR and the Chinese company Defetoo announced a new brand, Votour. It will make crossovers and SUVs. That is almost everything confirmed so far: the models, prices and sales start date have not been named. Here is what is confirmed, what is still rumour, and what it means for a buyer.

What is confirmed

  • AGR and Defetoo announced the launch on October 27.
  • The brand will build crossovers and SUVs.
  • The companies say the lineup is meant to offer a choice between everyday driving, off-road use and premium travel.
  • Models, prices and the sales start date have not been announced.

The fifth brand from the same partnership

Votour is the fifth joint project of AGR and Defetoo. The partnership began in February 2025 with Tenet, built in Kaluga on Chery models. Tenet Plus, Jeland (selling Jaecoo and Omoda) and Esteo (selling Exeed) followed.

What is confirmed and what is rumour

The Votour models have not been officially revealed, but there are some traces.

  • Certification documents. The Votour name has appeared in documents for the Jetour T1 (as Votour T10), Jetour G700 (as Votour R700) and Soueast S06.
  • Dealers. Reports from October 16 say Jetour dealers began swapping their signs for Votour.
  • Teaser on the brand site. It shows three lines: V, T and R. No cars are shown.
  • Rumours (not officially confirmed). Reports from October 13 say the Votour V5 and V6 may be versions of the Jetour Dashing with 1.5 and 1.6-litre engines, assembled in St Petersburg.
  • Debut date. A countdown on the brand site points to November 9. That comes from a single outlet and is not official.

So we are not saying Votour is a renamed Jetour. It is the most likely version, but only the manufacturers can confirm it.

What it means for a buyer

This is our opinion, not a fact. With no models or prices yet, the question is not whether to buy but what the car really is. Before the November 9 debut, keep three things in mind:

  1. Platform and engine. If Votour turns out to be a version of a known crossover, the original's track record is the best guide to reliability.
  2. Service and parts. A new brand's warranty and service network may work differently from a long-established one, so check who is responsible for repairs.
  3. Price. When the numbers appear, compare them with the price of the same car under its old badge.

What next

We will come back to the topic after November 9, when models and prices should appear.
