Ford Kuga (2nd Generation): Low Beam Bulb Replacement
On the 2nd-generation Ford Kuga (2013-2019), the low beam uses an H7 55W bulb. Because space in the engine bay is limited, it is recommended to remove the entire headlight assembly. This makes access easier and lowers the risk of damaging the bulb retainer.
Part
- 🔩 H7 55W bulb (halogen headlight). Popular options: Philips RacingVision +150%, Osram Night Breaker, Bosch Gigalight +120%

Step by step
11 steps- Open the hood and disconnect the negative battery terminal (optional, but safer).
- Locate the two headlight mounting screws (at the top and bottom corners of the headlight) and remove them with a Phillips screwdriver.
- Disconnect the wiring connector from the headlight (press the locking tab and pull).
- Carefully pull the headlight assembly out of its seat.
- Remove the rubber dust cover from the back of the headlight (in the center of the unit, where the low beam is).
- Disconnect the power connector from the bulb base.
- Turn the bulb base counterclockwise and pull. The bulb with its spring retainer will come out of its seat (this may take some force and a rocking motion).
- Install the new H7 bulb in reverse order. Do NOT touch the glass of the bulb with your fingers (use a clean cloth or gloves). Skin oil leaves marks that shorten the life of the bulb.
- Turn the bulb base clockwise until it locks, connect the connector, and put the rubber cover back on.
- Install the headlight back into the body, connect the wiring connector, and tighten the mounting screws.
- Check that the low beam works, and adjust the beam angle if necessary (adjustment screw on the back of the headlight).
Common mistakes and warnings
- If your Kuga has xenon headlights (optional), they use a D3S bulb, and the replacement procedure is different. Xenon requires disconnecting the ignition control unit and working in dielectric gloves because of the high voltage.
