Ravon Nexia R3 1.5 B15D2 (2021): Engine Oil Capacity and Type

The 1.5 B15D2 engine (Daewoo/GM family) takes about 3.5-3.8 L (3.7-4.0 qt) of oil when changed together with the filter. Always set the final level by the dipstick, not by the number. I could not confirm the exact value for your car in publicly available service materials, so use this range and check with the dipstick.

Difficulty: Easy Time: 5 minutes (level check) or 30-40 minutes (full oil change) Steps: 8 Tools: Wrench or socket for the drain plug (usually 17 or 19 mm), oil filter wrench, funnel, drain pan of 5 L (5.3 qt) or larger

Part

  • 🔩 Engine oil in a 4 L (4.2 qt) container (plus extra for topping off), oil filter for the 1.5 B15D2 engine, and a new drain plug washer

Step by step

8 steps
  1. Fill capacity. With a filter change, you need about 3.5-3.8 L (3.7-4.0 qt). Without a filter change, it comes out about 0.3 L (0.3 qt) less. Fill a dry engine after a rebuild the same way.
  2. Viscosity and grade. For a moderate climate, synthetic or semi-synthetic 5W-30 or 5W-40 oils are suitable. In very cold weather, you can use 0W-30 or 0W-40. Quality grade should be no lower than API SM/SN or ACEA A3/B4. Before buying, check the marking on the oil filler cap and the owner's manual.
  3. Warm up the engine for 3-5 minutes, shut it off, and wait 5 minutes. The car must be parked on level ground.
  4. Remove the drain plug and drain the oil completely. Wait 10-15 minutes until the dripping stops. Tighten the plug with a new washer. For the exact torque, see the manufacturer's specification; as a guideline, a plug of this type takes about 25-35 N·m (18-26 lb-ft).
  5. Replace the oil filter. Lubricate the new filter's gasket with oil and screw it on by hand. Do not tighten it with a tool.
  6. First add about 3.3 L (3.5 qt), wait a couple of minutes, and check with the dipstick. Add oil in small amounts up to the MAX mark. The level should be between MIN and MAX, closer to the upper mark. Overfilling is not acceptable.
  7. Start the engine for 1-2 minutes. The oil pressure light should go out within a few seconds. Inspect the filter and drain plug for leaks.
  8. Shut off the engine, wait 5 minutes, and check the level on the dipstick again. Top off if necessary.

Common mistakes and warnings

  • Do not rely only on the liter figures in a table: every engine retains a different amount of old oil in the system, so always set the final level by the dipstick. Overfilling above MAX causes foaming and oil getting into the crankcase ventilation system. Work carefully on a warm engine, because the oil and the drain plug are hot.
