Chrysler Town & Country 3.3 V6 (2002): Engine Air Filter Replacement
The air filter on the 3.3 V6 should be replaced every 20,000 km (12,000 mi) or once a year. The procedure is simple and requires no tools. The air filter housing is located under the hood on the passenger side.
Part
- 🔩 Mopar 4861480AA (OE), aftermarket equivalents FRAM CA9054, WIX 42389, K&N 33-2206
Step by step
8 steps- Open the hood and secure it with the prop rod. Find the black plastic air filter housing on the right (passenger side), behind the headlight.
- Release the two metal clips on top of the housing cover. Pull each one up or to the side until it clicks.
- Press the cover down and outward, then lift it up. It will come off the retaining tabs.
- Remove the old filter from the housing.
- Wipe out the bottom of the housing with a dry rag or vacuum it to remove dust and debris.
- Install the new filter. Make sure it sits snugly in the bottom of the housing, with the pleats oriented vertically.
- Install the housing cover. Align it with the guides and press down until it clicks.
- Snap both metal clips shut. Pull them down until they lock.
Common mistakes and warnings
- A dirty filter reduces power and increases fuel consumption. In dusty conditions (dirt roads, construction sites), replace the filter more often, every 10,000-15,000 km (6,000-9,000 mi).
