Hyundai Solaris (Accent) (3rd generation): Front Door Exterior Handle Removal and Installation
The front door exterior handle is replaced when the mechanism fails, the spring latches wear out, or the housing is damaged. The procedure requires removing the door trim panel and the moisture barrier film completely to access the mounting.
Part
- 🔩 front door exterior handle (left 82651-H5050 or right 82661-H5050 for Solaris II-III generation)
Step by step
11 steps- Lower the door window all the way down.
- Remove the decorative caps covering the door trim panel screws (at the bottom of the door panel and in the door pull handle).
- Remove the trim panel screws (usually 2-3), then use plastic trim tools to carefully pop the panel off its clips around the perimeter (start at the bottom and work upward).
- Disconnect the power window and central locking connectors (if equipped), then remove the trim panel completely.
- Peel off or carefully fold back the moisture barrier film around the exterior handle.
- From inside the door, locate the exterior handle mounting bolt (accessed through the service opening in the inner door panel) and remove it with a 10 mm socket and extension.
- Slide the exterior handle forward (toward the front of the vehicle) by 1-2 cm (0.4-0.8 in) to release the latches from their slots.
- Pull the handle outward and remove it from the door.
- Install the new handle in reverse order: insert the latches into the slots, slide the handle rearward until it stops, and tighten the mounting bolt (torque 7-11 N·m (5-8 lb-ft)).
- Check the latch operation (opening, closing, central locking), then put the moisture barrier film back in place.
- Install the door trim panel onto the clips (snap it in around the perimeter), reconnect the connectors, tighten the screws, and install the decorative caps.
Common mistakes and warnings
- When removing the door trim panel, use plastic tools so you don't damage the clips or the decorative surface. Replace any broken clips with new ones before reinstalling the panel. Be sure to check the latch operation before reassembly. If the handle doesn't open the door, the latches may be installed incorrectly or the latch actuator rod may be misrouted.
