Hyundai Solaris (Accent) 1.6 G4FC (2013): Cabin Air Filter Replacement

On the first-generation Solaris (2010-2017), the cabin air filter is located under the dashboard, to the right of the steering column. The procedure is simple and requires no dashboard disassembly. Replace it every 15,000-20,000 km (about 9,000-12,000 miles) or when a musty smell appears in the cabin.

Difficulty: Easy Time: 15-20 minutes Steps: 8 Tools: None required (or a plastic trim tool for convenience)

Part

  • 🔩 Hyundai 97133-1R000 (aftermarket equivalents: Filtron K 1191, Mann CUK 2643, Bosch 6050)

Step by step

8 steps
  1. Open the driver's door and look under the dashboard at the fresh air inlet area (to the right of the pedals).
  2. Locate the black plastic cabin filter housing, roughly 20x25 cm.
  3. Press the two clips on both sides of the housing (or pry them with a plastic trim tool) and pull the cover down toward you.
  4. Remove the old filter, noting the direction of the arrow on its frame (air should flow toward the cabin).
  5. Wipe the housing with a dry cloth to remove dust and dirt.
  6. Insert the new filter in the same orientation (arrow pointing into the housing).
  7. Close the cover until you hear the clips click.
  8. Make sure the cover fits tightly. There should be no noise while driving.

Common mistakes and warnings

  • Do not install the filter backwards. This reduces airflow and prevents proper filtration. If the smell persists after replacing the filter, the cause may be a contaminated A/C evaporator, which requires chemical cleaning.
