Step by step

10 steps
  1. Make sure the ignition is off. If it's on, moving the wiper arm can damage the wiper motor.
  2. Lift the wiper arm up and away from the windshield until it locks in the upright position.
  3. Press the lock buttons on both sides of the blade housing at the same time.
  4. Turn the blade slightly and pull it down along the arm to remove it.
  5. Install the new blade by inserting it into the arm's slot until the locking tabs click.
  6. Carefully lower the arm back onto the windshield. Rear blade:
  7. Lift the rear wiper arm away from the glass.
  8. Remove the old blade by releasing the lock (the design is similar to the front blades).
  9. Install the new blade until it is securely locked in place.
  10. Lower the arm onto the glass.

Common mistakes and warnings

  • Do not lift the wiper arm by holding the blade itself, because this can damage the attachment. Do not let an arm without a blade snap back onto the glass, because a metal-on-glass impact can crack it. Hold the arm with one hand during replacement so you control its position.
