Lada Granta 1.6 8V 87 hp (2015): Battery Replacement
The first-generation Granta uses a standard car battery with a capacity of 55-60 Ah and a voltage of 12 V. Replacement takes 20-30 minutes, even for a beginner. You need to disconnect the terminals, remove the hold-down and lift out the battery.
Part
- 🔩 12 V 60 Ah battery (standard for the Granta), from brands such as Voltex, Varta, Exell or TAB. Choose by manufacturer and capacity
Step by step
9 steps- Open the hood. The battery is on the left side of the engine bay (driver's side).
- Disconnect the negative terminal (black cable). Use a 13 mm wrench on the nut. Negative first, then positive. This is important for safety.
- Disconnect the positive terminal (red cable).
- Find the two bolts that secure the battery to its holder, on the left and right of the battery case. Loosen them with a 10 mm wrench.
- Carefully lift the battery straight up and out of the compartment. It weighs about 15-18 kg (33-40 lb), so be careful.
- Set the new battery in place and make sure it sits snugly in the holder.
- Tighten the hold-down bolts with a 10 mm wrench (torque 3-5 N·m (2.2-3.7 lb-ft). Do not overtighten, since the plastic can crack).
- Connect the positive terminal (red cable) first, then the negative terminal (black cable). Tighten the nuts evenly with a 13 mm wrench.
- Close the hood. Start the engine. It should start normally.
Common mistakes and warnings
- — Always disconnect the negative terminal first and reconnect it last. This prevents a short circuit. — Do not drop the battery. It contains electrolyte, and damage can cause chemical burns. — If the battery has been installed for a long time, check the terminals for white deposits (sulfation). Clean them with sandpaper for better contact. — After installing a new battery, some electronic modules (climate control, radio, clock) may need to be reset.
