Renault Talisman (1st generation): Gear Shift Knob Replacement
Replacing the gear shift knob on the Renault Talisman is a simple procedure that does not require disassembling the center console. The factory knob is attached to the shift lever pin with a retaining ring. It fits all 1st-generation versions (2015-2022) — the design is the same for manual and automatic transmissions (the part numbers differ).
Part
- 🔩 Manual transmission — Renault 328654845R, automatic transmission — Renault 328650419R (aftermarket equivalents are available online; confirm the OE part with your supplier)

Step by step
6 steps- Grip the leather (or plastic) boot at the base of the knob and pull it down along the lever to expose the mounting.
- Locate the retaining ring (a metal clip or spring clamp) on the pin under the knob.
- Squeeze or spread the retaining ring with your fingers (or pry it with a flat-head screwdriver) and remove it from the pin.
- Pull the knob upward — it will come off the pin.
- Slide the new knob onto the pin and reinstall the retaining ring (it should snap into the groove).
- Slide the boot back up until it seats fully against the new knob.
Common mistakes and warnings
- If you choose a non-OE knob, check the height and the diameter of the fitting — some aftermarket versions may be shorter than the factory knob. Before buying, confirm the part number by VIN or make sure the knob is compatible with your transmission type (6-speed manual or automatic).
